I finally found some time to update the site. There are a few changes:

The “Links” page is gone. Instead I moved the “Link me” banners to the bottom of the “About me” page. On the left side you can see there are additional icons at the bottom of the menu. They link to my accounts at deviantArt, tumblr, twitter and google+ respectively.

All pages except the portfolio are now available in English and German.

The portfolio was updated and shows more recent personal artworks as well as some of the commissioned work that kept me busy during the last months.

Last but not least the blog entries now have some neat little icons at the bottom of each entry so that you can easily share them with social networks and blogs.

I got some pretty awesome news for my birthday: I’m going to illustrate a children’s book!

German publisher Biber & Butzemann approached me last year and asked if I would be interested in illustrating their first book. But since I was very busy I couldn’t accept the job. Now their first book is out and everything seems to work out fine they want to publish at least 2 books a year and need some help for their illustrator. So they asked me again if I wanted to illustrate their next book and since there is enough time I said yes! The book is scheduled to be released in April 2012.

During the last weeks I completely reworked this website.

First I was playing around with Michael Tyson’s Elegant Grunge. I ended up with a very texture-heavy variation of his original theme. It wasn’t too bad but I got tired of it after a very short time. It was too dark and the images had to be compressed too much so that they just looked like some muddy pixel mash. In the end I scrapped it all and decided to come up with a lighter and more artsy design. All what’s left of Tyson’s theme is the WordPress php code and a bit of the css. The images are all new and the layout has changed – particularly the menu which I moved from top to the side and rearranging the single elements to fit into the new places.

The layout is optimized for a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 and higher. I tested it in Firefox 3.6 and InternetExplorer 8. Since there aren’t all that many fancy design elements I hope it’ll work for other browsers as well. Should you encounter any problems, please notify me. Thank you!
